I thought I’d combine my weekly round up of Bookish News and In My Mailbox into one post called Stocktake Saturday.
First up, the news for this week! Julie Kagawa had a huge week full of reveals, with the covers of The Lost Prince (the first book in her new series featuring Ethan, Meagan’s brother) and The Iron Legends (the new anthology with the e-novellas Winter’s Passage and Summer’s Crossing in print for the first time, as well as a brand new novella called Iron’s Prophecy. It also has an expanded guide to the Nevernever and a chapter of The Lost Prince). How exciting! Ethan looks especially delectable on the cover of The Lost Prince don’t you think?
The covers of The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #2) by Michelle Hodkin and Endless (The Violet Eden Chapters #4) by Jessica Shirvington have been released this week, and they look amazing! But my favourite cover reveal for the week is definitely that of Shine Light (Night Creatures #3) by Marianne de Pierres. This lady has some extremely talented people working on her books – all her covers are absolutely gorgeous!
One of the most exciting things that happened this week is that pre-orders for Veronica Roth’s Insurgent reached 35 000, which means that she finally revealed a pivotal scene from Divergent written from Four’s point of view. You can read it here, it’s amazing, I wish more was written from his point of view!
On to the books! It was a pretty big week here at Speculating on SpecFic – on Monday I hosted the Clockwise blog tour and kicked off an international giveaway of Watched by Cindy Hogan. I reviewed The Six by K. B. Hoyle, The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams and Raising Demons by Rachel Hawkins (also known as Demonglass). I’ve recently finished reading Struck by Jennifer Bosworth, Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bargudo, but their reviews will have to wait until they are published.
This week I also celebrated the end of my four week book ban, and … while I didn’t exactly UNDO the work of the last month, I did have a blast buying some of the books I’ve been coveting.
I received three books for review this week:
- Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
- Advent by James Treadwell
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (cover not yet released)
And I bought:
- Forgotten and Revived by Cat Patrick
- The Gathering and The Calling by Kelley Armstrong
- Allegiance by Cayla Kluver (Legacy #2)
- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
- Tempest by Julie Cross
- Croak by Gina Damico
- Extras by Scott Westerfeld
- Song of Scarabaeus by Sara Creasy (this one’s for the Australian Women Writers Reading Challenge)
- The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa – I’ve already read and reviewed this for HarlequinTeen US but I wanted a printed, finished copy for my shelves.
I hope you enjoyed the inaugural Stocktake Saturday post! Keep coming back every Saturday to get your fill of news in the book world and track my reading progress 😉
