This book is about dragons! DRAGONS!! How excite!!

Dragons have been hiding amongst us for centuries, using their shifting abilities to choose human forms and assimilate with us. They get jobs as high ranking CEOs in our world, or return to TALON after their assimilation training to take up the fight against the Order of St. George, who have sworn to eliminate all blood-thirsty dragons from our world.

At first glance Countdown looks and sounds too similar to The Hunger Games. But I was pleasantly surprised that the two are can be easily separated (the dystopian and kill-people-for-an-audience elements aside).

Twelve rounds out Ava’s journey admirably, and although I am sad to let her go, I have enjoyed every moment of my time with her and Caleb. This is the kind of paranormal fantasy I love to read, and I’ll be looking out for Franklin’s future works with great interest.
