Covens Rising: Episode 3 by Adina West

Covens Rising: Episode 3 by Adina West

Reviews 2 ★★★½

I'm getting sick of Kat. I can't stand how thoughtless she is, I just want step inside the pages of these ebooks and slap her silly. Maybe rattle her neurones into action.

Alek comes back in this episode (yay!), because Kat sent Amarok a message and Alek was the closest pack member who could help her. Kat's aunt Akilina also makes an appearance, and recognises that maybe keeping a newly found half Taberin princess completely in the dark about her heritage and powers is a Very Bad Idea.

The two of them waste no time detailing all the stupid decisions...

Come Back to Me is my favourite kind of NA story. It’s about more than just a hot romance. It’s about family and friends and dreams and love in all its incarnations. I think it’s a beautiful story and have really enjoyed reading it!

The Awakening is an enjoyable read, but honestly nothing like I’d expected it to be! It is, however, essential reading if you’re thinking of picking up Coven’s Rising, and I think fans of paranormal stories will like it.

Take Me On by Katie McGarry

Take Me On by Katie McGarry

Take Me On felt very samey – it felt like Crash Into You with mixed martial arts instead of drag racing. In fact, it didn’t really even feel like Crash Into You because I believed where Crash Into You was coming from and I found this whole book utterly unbelievable.

Kalona’s Fall by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Kalona’s Fall by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Reviews 4 ★½

P.C Cast and Kristin Cast have been writing full length novels since 2007 (I did a Goodreads search), so there is really no excuse for how poorly written this novella is. The dialogue is artificial, the storytelling confused, and the novella comes across as laboured.

Half A King by Joe Abercrombie

Half A King by Joe Abercrombie

Reviews 6 ★★★★½

I know that many fans were a bit worried when he announced that he’s writing a YA novel set in a whole new world. I don’t know why they were worried – Abercrombie proves that he is a skilled and adaptable writer with Half a King.

I always approach the last book of any series with some caution. After all, this book will be how I remember the series for a long time to come. So Iā€™m happy to say that Ruin and Rising is a fitting and brilliantly crafted conclusion to the Grisha trilogy, one that fans will be sighing over happily for years to come.
