Giveaway: Fool’s Assassin by Robin Hobb

September 16, 2014 Giveaways 5

Fools Assassin Giveaway

I have loved Robin’s books since I picked up my first one many years ago and was lucky enough to meet her at Supanova this year!! And today I’m giving away five (yes FIVE) copies of the awesome Fool’s Assassin.

Before we get to the giveaway I want to remind people that although Fool’s Assassin is the first book in its series (Fitz and the Fool), it is a continuation of the story that began in Assassin’s Apprentice (The Farseer Trilogy #1). There are six earlier books about Fitz and the Fool, comprising the Farseer Trilogy and The Tawny Man series. There are an extra seven books that are set in the same world, with peripheral relevance to the adventures of our two favourite characters.

What I’m saying is, these are not the books you want to be beginning with, BUT there are new matching editions of The Farseer Trilogy and The Tawny Man available, for those who want to get into these books.

Tom Badgerlock has been living peaceably in the manor house at Withywoods with his beloved wife Molly these many years, the estate a reward to his family for loyal service to the crown. But behind the facade of respectable middle-age lies a turbulent and violent past. For Tom Badgerlock is actually FitzChivalry Farseer, bastard scion of the Farseer line, convicted user of Beast-magic, and assassin.

A man who has risked much for his king and lost more... On a shelf in his den sits a triptych carved in memory stone of a man, a wolf and a fool. Once, these three were inseparable friends: Fitz, Nighteyes and the Fool. But one is long dead, and one long-missing. Then one Winterfest night a messenger arrives to seek out Fitz, but mysteriously disappears, leaving nothing but a blood-trail. What was the message? Who was the sender? And what has happened to the messenger? Suddenly Fitz's violent old life erupts into the peace of his new world, and nothing and no one is safe.

I’ve only ever read the Wilful Princess and the Piebald Prince, but it got me excited to start the Farseer series. Robin Hobb is definitely a very talented author – but the amount of books scares me a little! Thanks for the giveaway Shaheen! xx

Hi hi hi!! Good luck, and I hope you love the main series. Those short stories are such perfect way to experience Robb’s awesome writing!! Oh no! I hope the amount of books doesn’t put you off – they’re really worth it!!

Hello! Thanks for stopping by and entering 🙂 Good luck!!

So0o0 the very first books I read of Robin’s were the (totally unrelated) Soldier Son books. I LOVED THEM SO HARD, and I recall talking to people who basically shook their heads and were like “if you loved them, you’ll definitely enjoy her other books – no one likes those”. *le gasp*

And they were RIGHT!! But I still love the Soldier Son books for introducing me to her books.

I have the Soldier Son books but haven’t read them yet but I fell in love with Fitz and the Fool. Love the Rainwilds and the Liveships just wanted to jump in the books and be right there amongst them all.
