Genre: Paranormal
Waer by Meg Caddy
Waer by Meg Caddy is an accomplished début that takes readers into a fantasy land where legends roam alongside humans and werewolves. A rarity of its kind – a standalone – Waer is an great example of a well-crafted YA fantasy.
Marked by Sue Tingey
I feel oddly duped by Marked. I was expecting a paranormal-urban fantasy with some detective/crime vibes, and what I got was a paranormal romance that reminded me of the Merry Gentry books by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Audiobook Review: Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
“This book will break your feelings. Shatter them, then stomp on the resulting little pieces. And you’ll love every moment of it.” There were times where I listened with tears in my eyes. Everything about this book is beautiful, exquisite, and agonising, and the audiobook version is even more so because Khristine Hvam is such a skilled narrator.
Audiobook Review: Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
Again, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the experience. Khristine Hvam narrates this complex and beautiful take superbly. I loved the voices she gave the characters. Especially Zuzana. She captures the hurt and loss felt by both Karou and Akiva brilliantly. I feel like the really gets the story, the characters, and the world.
Fearless by Marianne Curley
Fearless, the last instalment in the Avena series, concludes Ebony and Nathaneal’s story admirably, and I enjoyed every moment of it immensely. I’ve loved this series since I read Hidden, and am sad to let these characters and their world go.
Blog Tour: Fearless by Marianne Curley
Today I’m kicking off the Australian and UK blog tour for the final book in Marianne Curley’s awesome The Avena series, Fearless.
Burn by Paula Weston
What a glorious way to end off one of the best angel-themed paranormal series I’ve ever read! Burn is everything I expected from the final instalment of The Rephaim, a brilliantly plotted novel where action, romance, and intrigue come together to create magic.
Audiobook Review: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
My decision to listen to Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor as my first audio-book was calculated – I thought Taylor’s lyrical writing would lend itself perfectly to experience. And I was right! I can’t imagine a more perfect book to have started off with.
Half Wild by Sally Green
Half Wild is the follow-up to Half Bad. This series follows Nathan Byrn, a half-White and half-Black witch in a world where the two hate each other and don’t usually mix. The fact that Nathan’s father is the most notorious and dangerous Black witch in existence doesn’t help the matter.
Whisper the Dead by Alyxandra Harvey
Whisper the Dead is the second book in this wonderful series that follows three teen witches in the regency era. Emma, Penelope, and Gretchen have recently found out that they are witches of the powerful Lovegrove line, and are now struggling to control their powers in an increasingly dangerous world.
