Embrace, the first volume in The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington has been picked up as a TV show by the famed producer Steven Spielberg. You can read the announcement at the SMH website, which rather condescendingly compares the series to Twilight and attributes her success to her husband.
Similarly New Line Cinema has acquired the movie rights to The Raven Boys, Maggie Stiefvater’s latest release! The novel is the first of a four-book series centring on Blue, a 16-year-old from a family of psychics who has been told she will cause her true love to die. Avoiding boys was pretty easy when she was younger but harder now that she is beginning to find herself attracted to them, especially the rich prep school-going circle of teens known as the Raven Boys.
The back cover and blurb of The Goddess Inheritance (The Goddess Test #3) by Aimée Carter has been released! You can see the back cover here. I’m not putting the synopsis here because it’s very spoilery, but the link will take you to Aimée’s blog post and you can read it there.
Wendy Higgins, the author of Sweet Evil, has announced the titles of the next two books in the series: Book Two is called Sweet Peril (2013) and Book Three is called Sweet Reckoning (2014).
I also have some cool new titles to share with you for YA sequels (links go to Goodreads as usual):
- Natural Born Angel (Immortal City #2) by Scott Speer
- Tremble (Denazen #3) by Jus Accardo
- Fyre (Septimus Heap #7) by Angie Sage
- Resist (Breathe #2) by Sarah Crossan
- The Girl with the Iron Touch (Steampunk Chronicles #3) by Kady Cross
- The Traitor Son (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten #2) by Julie Kagawa

This week I am Waiting on … Black City by Elizabeth Richards, and I helped with the blurb reveal for Michelle Madow’s Timeless (Transcend Time #3). I also took part on a blitz for Of Blood and Bone by Courtney Cole, in which I posted an excerpt and a giveaway, and helped with the cover reveal of Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
This week I received the following books for review: (links to Goodreads pages)
- What’s Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles #1) by Kat Zhang
- The Enchanted (The Gateway Chronicles #4) by K.B. Hoyle
- The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Last week I unlocked a book purchase though by Read Three, Buy One scheme! So here it is:

I reviewed the following books:
- The Lord of Lies by Sam Bowring
- Midnight City by J. Barton Mitchell
- Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
- Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
So that leaves me 4 books ahead – this means I have unlocked another book purchase!
I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂
Happy Reading!

Is Embrace gonna be a TV show in the US?
And thanks for all the updates! They’re really convenient! xD
My Haul

From the SMH article: “The US television adaptation will be produced by Spielberg’s company Amblin Television, in partnership with CBS Television Studios. It will be executive-produced by Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis. The Ten Network has an output deal with CBS Television Studios, which suggests it is most likely to secure Australian rights to a series.”
It’s important to note that at this stage Embrace might get turned into a TV show. In the adaptation business, until they actually begin shooting, nothing is set in stone. They might not be able to find a screen writer, potential cast members may have conflicting schedules, etc.
