Stocktake Saturday 26

October 27, 2012 Stocktake Saturday 4

Welcome to Stocktake Saturday! This feature is where I share some news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week.

New covers! (links to Goodreads)

MTV has optioned Elizabeth Norris’ Young Adult Novel Unraveling into a TV show! It’s going to be a teen drama, joining Awkward and Teen Wolf on the MTV line up. I hope this ends up happening, because Unravelling would be epic as a TV show. Read more at the Hollywood Reporter webpage.

Along with the reveal of the cover of the sequel to SJ Kincaid’s thriller Insignia, the synopsis to Vortex has been revealed:

The impossible was just the beginning. Now in their second year as superhuman government weapons-in-training at the Pentagonal Spire, Tom Raines and his friends are mid-level cadets in the elite combat corps known as the Intrasolar Forces. But as training intensifies and a moment arrives that could make or break his entire career, Tom’s loyalties are again put to the test.

Encouraged to betray his ideals and friendships for the sake of his country, Tom is convinced there must be another way. And the more aware he becomes of the corruption surrounding him, the more determined he becomes to fight it, even if he sabotages his own future in the process.

Drawn into a power struggle more dramatic than he has ever faced before, Tom stays a hyperintelligent step ahead of everyone, like the exceptional gamer he is—or so he believes. But when he learns that he and his friends have unwittingly made the most grievous error imaginable, Tom must find a way to outwit an enemy so nefarious that victory seems hopeless. Will his idealism and bravado cost him everything—and everyone that matters to him?

Filled with action and intelligence, camaraderie and humor, the second book in S.J. Kincaid’s futuristic World War III Insignia trilogy continues to explore fascinating and timely questions about power, politics, technology, loyalty, and friendship.

I really want to get my hands on this book *bounces*.

Shailene Woodley is apparently in talks with with Summit Entertainment to take up the role of Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior in the on screen adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent. She’s previously also apparently been approached to play Mary Jane in the Spider Man sequel, so obviously she’s a young lady we should all be watching! I think it will be interesting to see what she brings to the role 🙂

Who else is excited about the upcoming release of The Evolution of Mara Dyer? You can watch the book trailer at the EW website – and I have to say that for a psychological thriller, it’s pretty uhm … racy.

This week I am Waiting on … Requiem by Lauren Oliver

I got a few books for review this week: (links to Goodreads pages)

I ended last week 5 books ahead in my Read Three, Buy One, and thus unlocked a book purchase. I didn’t buy anything this week, so the starting count stays at 5. This week I reviewed the following books:

  1. Eve and Adam by Michael Grant & Katherine Applegate
  2. Poison Princess by Kresley Cole
  3. Vengeance by Ian Irvine

So that leaves me eight books ahead – with two books that I can purchase 😀

I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂

Happy Reading!
