Welcome to Stocktake Saturday! This feature is where I share some bookish news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week.
The cover reveals from the last week – (links to Goodreads pages)
In Bookish News, Patrick Ness is coming to Australia and New Zealand! The author of the Chaos Walking trilogy, and the newly released The Crane Wife, will be visiting the Auckland Writer’s Fest, and then hitting Melbourne Writer’s Week and Sydney Book Fest. You can find out more here.
Harper Voyager Australia has an awesome competition on right now – review any book my Raymond E. Feist and let them know about it by 15 May, and you could win a years’ supply of Voyager books. The first three books of the Magician trilogy have been sitting on my shelves for ages, and this is exactly the kind of motivation I need! You can find out more about the competition here.
Did you love Shadows, Paula Weston’s début novel? Are you interested in being in the book trailer for Haze, the sequel? Head on over to the Text Publishing website for more details.
Probably the biggest news this week is the title-reveal for the much anticipated third and final volume of Veronica Roth’s Divergent series. It is —- Allegiant. You can watch the super-cool video of Veronica telling us the news here.
Simon and Schuster US have revealed the movie-tie-in covers for The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones, The Mortal Instruments: Official Movie Companion and The Shadowhunter’s Guide. You can check them all out here.
Strange Chemistry, the YA imprint of ANgry Robot, has announced another acquisition this week. Their newest author is Sarah Raughley, who is publoishing a darkly fantastic novel in May 2014 called Feather Bound. About the book:
When Deanna’s missing friend Hyde turns up at his father’s funeral to claim his corporate empire and inheritance, she is swept into his glittering world of paparazzi and wealth. But re-kindling her friendship and the dizzying new emotions along for the ride are the least of her concerns. Because Deanna has a secret – and somebody knows. Someone who is out to get Hyde. And if she doesn’t play along, and help the enemy destroy him…she will be sold to the highest bidder in the black market for human swans. Now Deanna is struggling to break free from the gilded cage that would trap her forever…

Last time I was 2 books behind in my Read Three, Buy One scheme. This past week I bought a few books, including:
- This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
- The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
- Wool (Wool #1-5) by Hugh Howey
- Shift (Wool #6-8) by Hugh Howey
- The Iron King (The Accursed Kings #2) by Maurice Druon
Only the first counts towards the scheme however, because I have already read the others, but just wanted pretty, finished copies. Since they don’t go into the ‘To-Read’ pile, they don’t count. I have also reviewed the following books this week:
Which leaves me 2 books behind. (Edited from “5 books behind” because I obviously lose the ability to do simple arithmetic after midnight. I’m like Cinderella that way!)
I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂
