Stocktake Saturday 5

June 2, 2012 Stocktake Saturday 3

Hello and welcome to the fifth weekly Stocktake Saturday post! This feature is where I share some bookish news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week!

First of all let me get you up to date on some of the awesome covers that were revealed this week (clicking on the covers will take you to the books’ Goodreads page). I have four to share and two for books that I love! The cover for The Blinding Knife (Lightbringer #2) by Brent Weeks was revealed today, and it is gorgeous! It uses the (slightly too) common “Hooded Man” idea, but I love the colours behind it which evoke the unique magic system of the world, and generally looks enticing. This is a book I cannot wait to have in my hot little hands. The American cover of Entice (The Violet Eden Chapters #2) by Jessica Shirvington was also released this week, and I was surprised at the title change (the Australian edition is entitled Enticed). The cover looks great though, and carries over the purple palette and hidden wings themes from the American cover of Embrace.

The other two covers newly unveiled covers I have to share with you are those of The Mark of Athena (Heros of Olympus #3) by Rick Riordan and The Collector by Victoria Scott. Now I had never heard of The Collector before seeing the cover reveal posts in the blog world, and although the release date is in March 2012 by Entagled Teen (such a long wait!) I am already eager to read it.

Here’s the synopsis:

He makes good girls…bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence has made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Cool huh?

Remember how last week I was telling you all about how awesomely the book-buying limits are working? They’re still working this week … sort of … but I went out and managed to buy a whole bunch of books regardless of my Read Three, Buy One quota. I didn’t feel too bad afterwards because I’ve wanted these books for ages, but now I have to work extra hard at keeping to my quota.

This week I also received the following titles for review:

  • The Goddess Legacy by Aimee Carter
  • Dearly, Beloved by Lia Habel

In the past week I have read and reviewed the following books (links to reviews):

That’s the end of my book haul for the week. I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂

Happy Reading!

I got Dearly, Beloved too. Have you read the first book?

I am so buying Winter Be My Shield in paper too! I can’t wait for the next of that series to come out. Have you read it yet? (If so, I think I missed the review…)

Also, I like Disqus comments more than WP ones. WP is more racist and annoying to subscribe to comment threads with (and, eg, I can’t if I sign with my Twitter account like I’ve just done).

Ahh, sorry about the comments, not sure if I can change that …

I have not read Winter Be My Shield yet, but it’s next up after The Girl in the Clockwork Collar. I’m planning to buy Dearly, Departed soon as an ebook to read as well 🙂

You got a stack of great books this week, hun! And I like the cover reveals, though I wonder why they dropped the ‘d’ from Enticed?
