Stocktake Saturday 67

September 28, 2013 Stocktake Saturday 1

Welcome to Stocktake Saturday! This feature is where I share some bookish news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week.

The cover reveals from the last week  – (links to Goodreads pages)

In Bookish News, the book trailer for Kendare Blake’s Antigoddess is available.

Peter V. Brett has written a very exciting blog post including some exclusive content, but since our Lord and Master has asked we not spoil it for others, I will direct you to his original post to find out more.

Strange Chemistry revealed the cover (above) and synopsis of Shadowplay, the sequel to Laura Lam’s Pantomime, which is coming in January 2014.

The circus lies behind Micah Grey in dust and ashes….

He and the white clown, Drystan, take refuge with the once-great magician, Jasper Maske. When Maske agrees to teach them his trade, his embittered rival challenges them to a duel which could decide all of their fates. People also hunt both Micah and the person he was before the circus—the runaway daughter of a noble family. And Micah discovers there is magic and power in the world, far beyond the card tricks and illusions he’s perfecting….

A tale of phantom wings, a clockwork hand, and the delicate unfurling of new love, Shadowplay continues Micah Grey’s extraordinary journey.

Hollywood Crush got to exclusively reveal the cover of Kiera Cass’ The One (releasing May 2014) as well as The Selection Stories: The Prince and The Guard, which will be released on February 4th. Check out the original post and go behind the scenes of the making of the cover!

The title of the sequel to James Dashner’s The Eye of Minds has been revealed! The Rule of Thoughts will be published in 2014.

This week I’ve been Waiting on … Pawn by Aimée Carter. This week saw the launch of a new original feature at Speculating on SpecFic, called SpecFic 101: Introduction to Speculative Fiction. It’s aimed at providing book recommendations to both readers new to the genre, and fans who are looking for different reads. I begin the “online course” with What is Speculative Fiction?

My book hauls, beginning as usual with the physical copies, thanks to Scholastic AU, HarperCollins AU (links to Goodreads):

And e-galleys from Netgalley and Edelweiss:

  • Words Once Spoken by Carly Drake – Harlequin AU
  • Dark Eden by Chris Beckett – Broadway Books
  • Pawn (The Blackcoat Rebellion #1) by Aimee Carter – Harlequin AU – OMG this was my WoW!
  • Crash into You (Pushing the Limits #3) by Katie McGarry – Harlequin AU
  • The Adversary (The Sundering #3) by Erin M. Evans – Wizards of the Coast

Last time I was five books ahead in my Read Three, Buy One scheme, with one book purchase unlocked, and this week I bought:

  1. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Between #1) by April Genevieve Tucholke
  2. Deception (Defiance #2) by C.J. Redwine
  3. Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss #2) by Stephanie Perkins
  4. Midnight City (Conquered Earth #1) by J. Barton Mitchell

But only Deception and Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea count as new books, since I have already read the other two. I reviewed the following books this week:

  1. Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter
  2. Scarlet in the Snow by Sophie Masson
  3. Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis

Which leaves me 2 books ahead! (5 -2×3 + 3)

I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂

Happy Reading!
