Blood Will Follow is the sequel to Swords of Good Men, which was one of my favourite fantasy d├ębuts of 2013. We take up with Audun, Ulfar, Valgard and Finn after the siege of Stenvik, where Audun and Ulfar are separated in their efforts to somehow deal with the events of the last book.

If Swords of Good Men was a story about how far these men would go for their causes, then Blood Will Follow is about who these men are at their cores. They are tested in every way possible, and I loved the enormous character development that...

This is the very last Sea Breeze book, and it takes us into a past to discover the story that inspired all the other happy-ever-afters in the series: Rock and Trish.

Hold on Tight revitalised my love of this group of friends from this tight-knit coastal town, and it’s been amazing to get to know Dewayne better after so many books of him teasing us with his story.

I feel horrible because this is a brilliant series that examines a lot of issues that YA usually shies away from, and I have looked forward to it. I don’t have the time to re-read Ashes and Shadows and I’m not enjoying Monsters, so I’ll be leaving Alex and the gang at page 100.

The sequel to Gemsigns has blown me away. Binary is grander and more sophisticated than its predecessor, but lacks none of its heart and brilliance. Binary accomplishes what few sequels do in surpassing its predecessor in every way.

An absolutely brilliant conclusion to the story that began in Disruption, Corruption takes us deep into the heart of the sickness that is M-Corp and the technology they use to control and subdue American citizens and the world at large.

This story expertly re-orients readers in the world Sanderson created in Steelheart, and gears us up for the followup which is coming out next year. If you like YA fantasy then I strongly encourage you to pick up Steelheart.

This Shattered World is a perfect follow-up to These Broken Stars, and I don’t think that fans of the latter will be disappointed in the sequel. It has progressed the series arc while introducing us to a new world and new characters, and has set us up for a great final confrontation (which will happen on Corinth).

Never Fade is a powerful followup to Alexandra Bracken’s The Darkest Minds, a book that I absolutely loved. I have really enjoyed Never Fade, which has surpassed the excellence of its predecessor and has me super-excited for In the Afterlight.

Auri is a gentle, beautiful, wondrous soul, and her adventure in this novella is heart-warming. I loved every page. I loved getting to know the hidden places that only she visits. I loved discovering a completely new place, naming it, and arranging it so it was just so. I loved the illustrations that made this book so sweet.
