#OzYaChat 1 Recap

May 2, 2014 Discussion 6

Last night we had our very first Twitter chat all about Aussie YA, using the hashtag #OzYaChat. Here is a recap of what happened. It’s by no means comprehensive, so if you’d like to read all the tweets please go to the Twitter search page (link at the bottom).

I had a blast during #OzYaChat! I’m looking forward to the next one in two weeks 🙂

Read all the tweets from #OzYaChat here.

There were lots of opinions on the Australian stereotypes in Aussie YA. What are your thoughts? Do you like them? Disagree with them?

I missed it, but went through twitter last night to read all the tweets. Sounds like a party that cannot be missed next time. I’ll make sure I’m there for next one. A really great idea, by the way. I love Aussie YA and love seeing so much love from so many others 🙂

  2. Kate @ Fictional Thoughts

It was a lot of fun. Added over twenty new-to-me authors to my to-read list. Definitely indulged in some internet shopping for some new books after it was done! Great job Shaheen and Mandi! Can’t wait for the next one 🙂

Loved reading this post Shaheen but bummed I missed it personaly. It’s such a great idea, can’t wait for the next one. As for Aussie stereotypes, I don’t worry about them personally in my reading.

I KNOW CATH CROWLEY. I saw the hashtag on twitter and wondered what it was all about. Too awesome. 😉 I like those answers too! I’m actually surprised when I read an book by an Aussie author and it’s set in USA/UK or something. It feels weird to me. o.O Which is ODD in itself because if I read an American author writing about Paris I’m fine. lol I guess I just feel like the more books about Oz the better, because we’re such a minority in the YA market I reckon.
