Having loved The Darkest Part of the Forest, I was expecting something surreal and creepy from Tithe. While it delivered on those fronts, it also felt confused and half-hearted.

Tithe took a long time to begin. The first part of the novel felt disjointed and slow. The Pale Dreamer gives us a glimpse of Paige’s life before we met her in The Bone Season, taking us on an adventure through London after some poltergeists. It’s an excellent entry point for readers who are interested in The Bone Season series and want to give it a try….

This Night So Dark by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

This Night So Dark by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Reviews 2 ★★★★★

This Night So Dark tells us how Tarver became a Major in the army, and why he was all over the news when we met him in These Broken Stars. Tarver and Lilac, who are living together after the events of These Broken Stars, are talking about that eventful night because Tarver still has nightmares about it. And in the retelling, they realise that those events are connected to the crash of the Icarus and all that happened afterwards.

The Awakening is an enjoyable read, but honestly nothing like I’d expected it to be! It is, however, essential reading if you’re thinking of picking up Coven’s Rising, and I think fans of paranormal stories will like it.
