Coming to the end of any series is a bittersweet experience, but reading A Tangle of Gold – the concluding volume in the spellbinding The Colours of Madeleine series – was especially emotional for me. It’s hard to believe that my adventure with Madeleine and Elliot, and my time in Cello and Cambridge, is over.
I really enjoyed The Sin Eater’s Daughter! It combines a few refreshingly unique concepts with a cool fantasy world and some interesting characters. It has its flaws, but I could overlook them because of its conceptual brilliance and lush storytelling.
Is there more? There’s more right? There are at least … fifteen sounds like a reasonable number … novels planned in this world, right. Right!?
Night Study, the fifth instalment in the Study series, and second in the Soulfinders series, is everything we’ve come to expect from Snyder. Exciting, action packed, full of twist and turns that will keep you guessing, this book will leave you desperate for more.
To celebrate the release of The Bloody Quarrel, the second in Duncan Lay’s The Arbalester Trilogy, I have the author stopping by to speak about the magic of Star Wars and the importance of interesting and deep characters.
Firstly, isn’t that cover gorgeous? It’s what drew me to Those Above in the first place, that beautiful cover with a giant sword that screamed Read Me. And I was further enthralled when I read the synopsis. A human uprising against the Gods? Sign me up. I really enjoyed Those Above. It has moments of brilliance where it transcends expectations, and at all other times is an entertaining and glorious read. I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel!
I’m a sucker for reincarnation stories, so I’ve been looking forward to reading this since I heard about it. I loved The Next Together – the concept is amazing and the execution is brilliant! I loved every moment of my time with all the different versions of Katherine and Matthew. The Next Together transcends the traditional boundaries of genre to give readers a unique story.
The Cracks in the Kingdom is an exquisitely crafted blend of contemporary and fantasy fiction that will delight fans of both genres. A wonderfully compelling story, it will have readers desperate for the next instalment.
“This book will break your feelings. Shatter them, then stomp on the resulting little pieces. And you’ll love every moment of it.” There were times where I listened with tears in my eyes. Everything about this book is beautiful, exquisite, and agonising, and the audiobook version is even more so because Khristine Hvam is such a skilled narrator.
Kelsea, now firmly settled into her role as the Queen of the Tear, is now preparing for war with the neighbouring kingdom of Mortmesme. The Invasion of the Tearling begins with an incursion into the disputed territory between the two kingdoms and ends with a siege. But the invasion and the accompanying war is only one element in this complicated book, and I’ve loved how Johansen wove all the different threads together to create a masterpiece of a story.
