Series: Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Again, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the experience. Khristine Hvam narrates this complex and beautiful take superbly. I loved the voices she gave the characters. Especially Zuzana. She captures the hurt and loss felt by both Karou and Akiva brilliantly. I feel like the really gets the story, the characters, and the world.
My decision to listen to Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor as my first audio-book was calculated – I thought Taylor’s lyrical writing would lend itself perfectly to experience. And I was right! I can’t imagine a more perfect book to have started off with.
Laini Taylor’s gorgeous story-telling will sweep readers away from the first page, and then excite, horrify, generally agonise them until the last page is turned. Her writing is indescribably mesmerising, somehow managing to capture hearts and imaginations and allow us to immerse ourselves fully into the world she has created.
This is perfect!! I was missing this story-world, and Night of Cake & Puppets was the perfect thing to immerse myself in without re-reading the books (which I will probably do soon anyway). I love Zuzana, so I enjoyed this gorgeous story, which tells of her and Mik’s first date, immensely….
