Stocktake Saturday 19

September 8, 2012 Stocktake Saturday 6

Welcome to Stocktake Saturday! This feature is where I share some news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week.

New covers! (links to Goodreads)

  • Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2) by R.L. LaFevers
  • False Sight (False Memory #2) by Dan Krokos
  • Shadows (The Rephaim, #1) by Paula Weston – UK cover

Penguin Books AU has picked up Lili St. Crow’s Tales of Beauty & Madness series, starting with Nameless. This is a retelling of Snow White, and the expected publication is early 2013. You can read the announcement here. The synopsis for Nameless:

When Camille was six years old, she was discovered alone in the snow by Enrico Vultusino, godfather of the Seven – the powerful Families that rule magic-ridden New Haven. Papa Vultusino adopted the mute, scarred child, naming her after his dead wife and raising her in luxury on Haven Hill alongside his own son, Nico.

Now Cami is turning sixteen. She’s no longer mute and she keeps her faded scars hidden under her school uniform. She opens up only to her two best friends, Ruby and Ellie, and to Nico, who has become more than a brother to her. But even though Cami is a pampered Vultusino heiress, she knows that she is not really Family. Unlike them, she is a mortal with a past that lies buried in trauma. And it’s not until she meets the mysterious Tor, who reveals scars of his own, that Cami begins to uncover the secrets of her birth … to find out where she comes from and why her past is threatening her now.

Don’t forget that my Harry Potter re-read is going strong – there is still time to sign up if you wish. You can find details on the Harry Potter re-read page.

This week I am Waiting on … Knife Sworn by Mazarkis Williams (which I incidentally also got for review this week) and I reached my goal for the 2012 Australian Women Writers Reading Challenge – read my round up post here!

It’s been a huge week, filled with many awesome books! I received the following books for review: (links to Goodreads pages)

Last week I ended up three books behind in my Read Three, Buy One book quota. This week I reviewed the following books:

  1. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
  2. Paladins of Shannara: Allanon’s Quest by Terry Brooks
  3. Fire in the Sea by Myke Bartlett
  4. Blackwood by Gwenda Bond

So this leaves me one book ahead! I haven’t been ahead in a while so this is terribly exciting!

I hope you have some goodies to share as well, leave your links below and I’ll be sure to visit 🙂

Happy Reading!

I got Darkest Minds too! I was also thinking of requesting White Ninja but I am also actively trying to request fewer books so that I can make more of a dent in my TBR. Hrmm.

The cover for Dark Triumph looks amazing. It reminds me that I should really read Grave Mercy soon, but I’ve got some time before the sequel is released 🙂

Looks like you’ve got some amazing reads ahead of you 🙂
