In Bookish News, Victoria E. Schwab (Vicious, The Archived) has signed a two-book deal with Tor for A Darker Shade of Magic and its sequel. The books are set in “a series of magically connected parallel Londons,” where “the last of a line of blood mages and a pickpocket specializing in magical artifacts must combine forces to save the worlds—all of them.” Schwab has been referring to this book as “pirates, thieves, and sadist kings”.
The synopsis for Shimmer, the third book in Paula Weston’s The Rephaim series, has been revealed. She’s also announced the title of the fourth and final book! It will be called Burn. Here’s the synopsis for Shimmer, which will be available in July:
Gaby thought her life couldn’t get more complicated.
She’s almost used to the idea that she’s not the nineteen-year-old backpacker she thought she was. She can just about cope with being one of the Rephaim – a 140-year-old half-angel – whose memories have been stolen. She’s even coming to grips with the fact that Jude, the brother she’s mourned for a year, didn’t die at all.
But now Rafa—sexy, infuriating Rafa—is being held, and hurt, by Gatekeeper demons. And Gaby has to get the bitterly divided Rephaim to work together, or Rafa has no chance at all.
It’s a race against time – and history. And it may already be too late.
Marvel has confirmed there’s going to be a solo Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Yay! And also, finally.
Last week I posted up some non-YA fantasy books I’m anticipating. Have you checked it out? And this week I blogged about being a girl who reads, and how people just assumed I was a male reviewer before. I also participated in two cover reveals this week. The first is for North Star Guide Me Home (Children of the Black Sun #3) by Jo Spurrier, and the other is for Sacrifice (Elementals #5) by Brigid Kemmerer. Of course, the covers are just above, but you read the original posts if you want!
I also interviewed the amazing Kasie West for the release of Split Second. Read it here!
This week’s reviews:
- [11 Feb] Swords of Good Men by Snorri Kristjansson ★★★★
