Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

I loved everything about A Thousand Pieces of You! It’s a beautiful book and I know I’ll spend a lot of time raving about it.

Marguerite Caine’s parents are physicist who have unlocked inter-dimensional travel. Although they can’t send through physical matter, they’ve managed to send a consciousness using a device called the Firebird. One of the students, Paul, betrays them and steals the Firebird to escape justice, setting Marguerite on a path of vengeance.

A Thousand Pieces of You takes us to some amazing dimensions, and I loved how rich and detailed they are. The world-bulding is amazing: Gray has put a lot of work into the settings of this book and it shows. My favourite is the one depicted on the cover (which is where most of the action is set): a beautiful alternate Russia where Marguerite’s family hides intriguing secrets.

Marguerite is an awesome protagonist. I love her unflinching bravery, her intelligence, and her willingness to help others. She grew up surrounded by her parents’ graduate students, and thinks of them as her siblings alongside her elder sister Josie. One of my favourite things about her is that she’s incredibly loyal to her family and friends.

There’s a super-swoony love interest in this book, and I just cannot get over how perfect he is. I can’t for you guys to meet him. (I can’t say much more because of spoilery reasons).

Reading this book is an epic adventure, one that I couldn’t tear myself away from! The plotting is intricate and the story is well paced. Although I guessed one of the big reveals about half way through, I could never have guessed exactly how everything played out. One of the reasons I love this novel so much is because the author doesn’t underestimate her audience or dumb things down. The science is clearly explained but isn’t simplified to the point of being incoherent (you’ll be surprised how often this happens in books).

I can’t wait for the next book. I’m really excited that this is a series because I haven’t gotten enough of the characters or their world, and I definitely need to see more kissing.

I don’t think I can accurately express how much I loved this book. You’ll just have to grab yourself a copy and experience the awesome yourself.
