Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows readers to showcase eagerly awaited upcoming releases.
This week I’ve picked Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan
- Expected publication: October 9th 2013 by Simon & Schuster AU (maybe? Apparently Australia’s stock is late)
- Series: The Lynburn Legacy, Book 2
- Goodreads / The Book Depository
Free from bonds, but not each other.
It’s time to choose sides… On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.
But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?
Let’s be honest here, I am in grave danger of actually dying if I don’t get to read this soon.
OK, that’s an exaggeration, but, the sweet, haunting pain that was Unspoken left me for dead, and only Untold will make it better. No doubt more pain, tears, joy, and kissing is in order! One of my favourite things about Unspoken is that it absolutely lived up to the hype. It’s gorgeous, and I cannot wait to learn more about all my favourite characters (and the not-so-favourite ones too), and unravel the mystery surrounding the Lynburn family.
I really, truly hope this doesn’t turn into one of those books with the horrifying love triangle and weird angst (there’s good angst, and there’s nonsensical, I-could-talk-to-you-and-sort-it-out-but-I-won’t angst).
And yes, the cover change makes me sad. On one hand, the new ones are about 400 times better than the original AU/UK one, but nothing, nothing will compare to the gorgeous gold and scarlet of the US hardback. Having said that, I’m buying the new ones so they’re all matchy-matchy (bringing my total up to three copies of Unspoken – US hardcover, AU paperback, new paperback that matches Untold). And read the free e-shorts! They’re awesome and help relieve the pain of not having Untold.
