Waiting on Wednesday 54

September 25, 2013 Bookish 17

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows readers to showcase eagerly awaited upcoming releases.

This week I’ve picked Pawn by Aimée Carter

YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister’s niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There’s only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that’s not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she’s only beginning to understand.

Previously titled Masked.

I like Aimée Carter’s writing (I know some people don’t) and I love this cover! Pawn sounds really good, and I can’t believe it’s such a long wait for it 🙁

I’d love to see what you are waiting on … please leave links and I’ll be sure to check them out!

I love the cover for this one! It’s great. RE AC’s writing I tried the first book in her Goddess series and quite liked it – so I wouldn’t mind giving this one a shot. Yey! 🙂 Sort of reminds me vaguely of the premise behind Meg Cabot’s Airhead series.

  2. Niki Hawkes

I and fascinated by everything about this book, from the cover to the synopsis. Thank you for featuring it, I’m now really excited for it and have added it to my goodreads page. Also, I love the owl at the top of the page – So cute!

  3. Miss Page-Turner

Ohh good pick! I did like Aimée’s writing, but just didn’t like her The Goddess Test characters. I’ll have to give Pawn a try when it comes out. Why don’t you request the Netgalley title?:)
