Waiting on Wednesday 64

December 4, 2013 Bookish 7

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows readers to showcase eagerly awaited upcoming releases.

This week I’ve picked Flame by Amy Kathleen Ryan

  • Expected publication: January 7th 2014 by St. Martin’s Griffin (PanMacAU)
  • Series: Sky Chasers, Book 3
  • Genres: Science Fiction
  • Goodreads / The Book Depository

Waverly and the other members of the Empyrean have scattered, and their home ship has been destroyed. Their mission to rescue their parents didn’t go as planned, and now they’re at an even greater disadvantage: trapped with their enemies on the New Horizon, trying to find a way to survive. Kieran has been pulled under Anne Mather’s wing, but is she really trying to make peace, or just using Kieran to build her own power? Meanwhile, Waverly is taken in by a mysterious old man who wants to help her bring Anne Mather down—but the more Waverly cooperates with him, the more dangerous her position is, and the more at odds with Kieran she becomes.

Seth’s situation is even worse. After setting out from the Empyrean on his own, with only a vague strategy to guide him, he is a fugitive aboard the New Horizon. He’s doing what he can to challenge the power of Anne Mather, but he’s badly hurt, and getting sicker.

Will Seth ever see Waverly again? Will his health hold out long enough to help her topple their enemies? And will Waverly find a way to unite with her friends before they all fall? Nothing is sure and every moment is a risk in this explosive finale of the Sky Chasers series.

I love this series. One of the main reasons is because of the science – a well researched book is always a winner in my books! I also like the characters, and the Amy’s action packed plots.

If you’re going to read a YA science fiction with a generation ship, you’d do well to read the Sky Chasers series!

My review of Glow

My review of Spark

Now the cover above doesn’t really match the rest of the books 🙁 I’ve found this other one online, but it doesn’t look like they’re going with it – they’re sticking with the one above. Which is sad because I like this one!

I’d love to see what you are waiting on … please leave links and I’ll be sure to check them out!

The covers are really unique! And I haven’t heard of this series before, but I’m definitely going to have to check it out now. 🙂

This week’s Waiting on Wednesday is becoming dangerous to my bank account for 2014 lol. YA SF with science that isn’t ‘flashing lights equal science’. Not that there is something wrong with it, just something different. I’ll have to see if I can find the first book in the series to check it out for myself.

    Here is my WoW post

I’ve been waiting on this for so long now! Glad to find someone else who is not only eager for this but also just as unhappy with the cover as I was. Although that being said my 1 and 2 don’t match either. Very excited to see how this series ends. My WoW
